On February 26, 2019, Jiao Hong, Head of National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China, and RYU YoungJin, Minister (now the former Minister) of South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Drugs, Medical Devices and Cosmetics Supervision Cooperation in Beijing. The MoU clarified the main orientation of the future bilateral cooperation and strengthened cooperation in the fields of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics through high-level meetings, personnel training and regulatory information exchanges.
Before the signing of the MoU, Jiao Hong and RYU YoungJin and his party held a working meeting. Jiao Hong introduced the basic situation of China institutional reform, and said that NMPA is further improving the relevant law and regulation system, strengthening product post-market supervision, and enhancing international cooperation. RYU YoungJin said that South Korea attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China NMPA and hoped that in the future, the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in the fields of drugs, medical devices and cosmetics supervision under the framework of the MoU and jointly improve the regulation to benefit the two sides.
