The guideline is divided into three parts. The first part is an overview of the main contents. The second part provides the composition of test method. The third part details the microbiological limit test procedures, including sample pretreatment, principles for preparation of test fluids, etc. The key contents of the guideline are as follows:
Define the terms used in cosmetic microbiological testing;
Explain the purpose of the testing and preventive measures;
Provide examples of test methods;
Develop microbiological limit testing methods for cosmetic ingredients.
Updates: On October 28, 2021, MFDS rolled out the revised Guidelines for Testing of Cosmetic Microbiological Limit. With an effort to enhance the microorganism control in mask pack and wet tissue, the new version adds the testing methods applicable for mask pack and wet tissue. The preprocessing method, detailed testing method, and the matters to be noticed while conducting the test.
