On July 8, 2022, China National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) launched public consultation on one draft testing method for 24 prohibited colorants. Cosmetic stakeholders can send suggestions to hzpbwh@nifdc.org.cn before July 31, 2022.
Currently the testing methods targeted at prohibited colorants in hair dyeing products are quite limited in China. Only one method for CI 42510 and CI 44045 is specified in STSC 2015. With the aim of filling the gap, this testing method is devised, stipulating the determination of 24 prohibited colorants in hair dyeing products by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
