Commission Recommendation on the Definition of Nanomaterial (2022)

On June 14, 2022, the European Commission published the Commission Recommendation on the Definition of Nanomaterial (the Recommendation) to clarify the definition of nanomaterials. The Recommendation promotes a coherent regulatory framework for nanomaterials in the EU, helping to align legislation across all sectors. The new definition replaces the initial definition of 2011, and should be used in EU and national legislation, policy or research programmes.
