On October 8, 2023, the Governor of California approved Assembly Bill No. 496, banning the production and sale of cosmetics containing 26 ingredients known for their potential health hazards within the state. This expansion builds upon California's 2020 Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act, increasing the total number of banned chemicals to 50 and reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding consumer health in the realm of cosmetic products.

The implementation of this ban is scheduled to commence on January 1, 2027.
