On January 22, 2025, China National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) released nine testing methods for public consultation, with feedback accepted until February 21, 2025. One of the methods is the Determination of Diethylene Glycol and Glycol in Toothpaste (Draft for Comments).
This method is designed to determine the levels of diethylene glycol and glycol in toothpaste using gas chromatography. It utilizes widely accessible analytical techniques commonly used in cosmetic testing laboratories, as well as choosing precise, practical, and operable conditions to ensure both the method's reliability and reproducibility.
