The Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 outlines the legal requirements for the import, export, manufacture, and supply of therapeutic goods in Australia. It specifies the procedures for listing, registering, or including medicines, medical devices, and biological products on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), as well as many other aspects of the law, including advertising, labeling, and product appearance.
In Australia, part of sunscreens are regulated as therapeutic goods under this Act. It is administered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which is responsible for enforcing the standards and requirements set in the Act to protect public health.
