Camel Hump Oil to be Included in Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China

Hump oil will be included in IECIC. Cosmetics containing hump oil are allowed to be registered or filed in China.

According to CNPHARM [1], National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has officially replied to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region MPA, approving hump oil as an existing cosmetic ingredient in China.

NMPA will update the Cosmetic Registration and Filing Information Management System to allow cosmetics containing hump oil to be registered or filed. In the subsequent revision of IECIC, hump oil will be included.

Hump Oil Introduction
Hump oil is the subcutaneous adipose tissue under the latissimus dorsi muscle of the camel. According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, hump oil has purported efficacy in treating musculoskeletal issues and inflammation. The Inner Mongolia Camel Research Institute [2] wrote that applying hump oil as a natural emollient oil to dry skin has anti-inflammatory effects.
