Korea MFDS released the revised rules of the “Standards for Production of Quasi-drugs” to improve efficiency of application and review of quasi-drugs and to increase consumer‘s trust in the safety and efficacy of products. The period for public consultation will end on June 15 2015. MFDS is proposing updates to the production standards for hair dyes and tooth paste and also adds the production standards for body odor masking/reduction agents.
MFDA is also proposing changes to the usage and dosage of two forms of oxidizing hair dyes, color fading agents and non-oxidizing hair dyes and also clearly specifying the usage and dosage of oxidizing agents and oxidizing agent adjuvants. According to the revised rules, fluoride toothpastes are required to be marked with cautionary labeling, and toothpastes with 1000 pm of fluoride content shall indicate “fluoride helps prevent cavities”.
