The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued a notification to solicit public opinion on the amendments to the Regulation on Safety Standards, etc. for Cosmetics1 on November 7, 2023.
The authority mainly proposed to designate a new UV-Filter ingredient and insert the CAS No. and chemical names for the prohibited ingredients and restricted ingredients. Stakeholders can send suggestions to MFDS before November 27, 2023.
Details are as follows:
1. New UV-Filter
A new UV-filter ingredient, which has passed the evaluation following the Regulation on the Examination of Designation and Changes of Cosmetics Ingredient Standards2, is to be included in the Restricted Ingredient List(Attached Table 2 of Cosmetics Safety Standards) for cosmetics:

2. Addition of CAS No. and Chemical Names
To help enterprises easily find the ingredients and check the ingredient information, MFDS plans to insert the CAS No. and general chemical names for the prohibited and restricted ingredients.
