Philippines Bans the Use of Lead in Cosmetics

The Philippines’ Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) enacted DENR Administrative Order No. 2013-24 on 23 Dec 2013, the content of which officially promulgated the Chemical Control Order (CCO) for Lead and Lead Compounds. Henceforth the use of lead and lead compounds in consumer products, including cosmetics, is to be banned by law effective 15 days after the issuance of the order.

Taiwan Further Regulates Lead and Arsenic Residues in Cosmetics

On 9 Jan 2014, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" (TFDA) issued the “Provision of Maximum Levels of Residual Heavy Metals (lead and arsenic) from Impurities in Cosmetics”, which is effective immediately.

Revlon to Exit Chinese Market

Revlon the New York based world renowned cosmetics manufacturer, announced on 31 Dec 2013 a corporate restructuring plan that will see some 1,100 positions axed. The majority of cuts will take place in Revlon’s Chinese base of operations with the writing on the wall that Revlon will inevitably fully exit China.
