Australia’s TGA has launched an 8‑week public consultation on reforms to the sunscreen regulatory framework, focusing on SPF test methods, lab oversight, SPF labeling, GMP guidance for sunscreen manufacturing, etc.
On March 26, 2026, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) released an 8-week public consultation paper titled Seeking improvements to the regulation of sunscreens in Australia. Given that Australia has the highest rates of skin cancer and melanoma globally, this regulatory initiative proposes a range of framework updates aimed at modernizing testing standards and ensuring product performance. Industry stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback to the consultation hub by May 23, 2026.
