On March 14, 2025, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) initiated a consultation on interim decisions regarding proposed amendments to the Poisons Standard. The Poisons Standard categorizes substances used in medicines, cosmetics, etc., into different schedules to regulate their availability to the public based on assessing their benefits and risks.
The proposed interim decisions focus on five substances, two of which are relevant to cosmetic use. Below are the proposed amendments and interim decisions, with proposed additions highlighted in green. Stakeholders are invited to provide their feedback by April 4, 2025.
