On Sep. 10, 2018, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology opened another 104 QBs to public comments including 2 QBs for oral care products. This follows shortly after the opening of a public consultation period on 337QBs in August. QB generally refers to national quality test standard and is mandatory while QB/T means recommended industrial standard.

Deadline for consultation is Oct. 10. Cosmetic stakeholders with any suggestions can send to us (cosmetic@chemlinked.com) before Oct. 5. We will sort your suggestion and submit them to authorities on your behalf.

Oral care and cleansing products – Determination of folic acid in toothpaste - High performance liquid chromatography

 

  • The standard specifies the determination method of the content of folic acid content in toothpaste.
  • The standard applies to the determination of the content of added folic acid in toothpaste.
  • According to the standard, the detection concentration of folic acid is 0.01μg/mL and the quantitative concentration is 0.03μg/mL; when sample weight is 1.0g, the detection limit of this method is 1.0mg/kg, and the limit of quantification is 3.0mg/kg.

Oral care and cleansing products - Determination of benzoic acid, salicylic acid, sorbic acid and phenoxyethanol in toothpaste - High performance liquid chromatography

 

  • The standard specifies the methods, reagents and standard substances, instruments, analytical procedures, calculation results, recovery rates, standard deviation and permissible tolerance of high performance liquid chromatography for the determination of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, salicylic acid and phenoxyethanol in toothpaste.
  • The standard applies to the determination of the content of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, salicylic acid and phenoxyethanol in oral care products such as toothpaste, oral rinses and tooth powder.
  • Under the standard, the detection concentrations of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, salicylic acid and phenoxyethanol are 1.5 μg/mL, 2.5 μg/mL, 2.5 μg/mL and 3.0 μg/mL respectively, and the quantitative concentrations are 5.0 μg/mL. 7.5 μg/mL, 7.5 μg/mL, and 10.0 μg/mL; when sample weight is 0.5 g, the detection limits of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, salicylic acid and phenoxyethanol are 0.015%, 0.025%, and 0.025%, 0.03 %, the limit of quantitation are 0.05%, 0.075%, 0.075% and 0.10%.
