Taiwan Abolishes Cosmetic Colorant Usage Provisions

On July 15, Taiwan MOHW officially abolished “Provisions on Usage Management for New Legal Cosmetic Colorants” in consideration of the fact that relevant requirements are specified in “List of Legal Colorants in Cosmetics” which entered into force on Jan 1 this year.

Requirements

1.      Colorants excluded from the legal colorants list are allowed to be used in cosmetics if their limits have been publicized in EU, American or Japanese legislative frameworks but shall not exceed these limits. The applicants shall submit relevant documentation to prove the colorant is permitted for use in the regions/countries at the time of applying for examination and registration.

2.      If EU, America or Japan doesn’t stipulate the limits the colorants are regulated as new colorants. The applicants shall submit technical documentation to MOHW for review in accordance with the notification of 0950328620.
