On March 25, 2021, Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) revised some provisions of the Japanese Standards of Quasi-drug Ingredients. The new Japanese Standards of Quasi-drug Ingredients (JSQI 2021) amended multiple ingredients and test methods in JSQI 2006, replacing it as a new overarching technical standard for quasi-drugs.
The revisions has taken effect on March 25, 2021. A 1.5-year grace period which will end on September 30, 2022 was granted for stakeholders to prepare for enforcement of the new requirements.
The latest revision of JSQI was made on Oct. 18, 2021. The specifications of 62 quasi-drug ingredients have been amended.
