6 Cosmetic Testing National Standards to be Revised

The Standardization Administration of China announced it will revise the first batch of national standards for the testing of cosmetics in 2014, specifically defining the testing methods of 48 substances in cosmetics including of 11 penicillin antibiotics, 15 fluoroquinolone antibiotics, 5 heavy metals, 7 sex hormones, astragaloside, paeoniflorin, phillyrin and forsythoside etc.

The regulatory stipulations on recycling and manufacture of hazardous cosmetics in Korea as outlined in the “Standards of Manufacture and Quality Control for excellent cosmetics” do not conform to requirements as outlined in the newly revised Cosmetic Act. China Domestic Non-special Use Cosmetics Public Query System

From June 30 2014, domestic manufacturers of non-special use cosmetics are required to file a record with provincial FDA’s through the National Online Filing System before placing the products on the market. The recorded information has been open to the public since September 3. People have access to information through the query online platform released by CFDA.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
