California Proposes Priority Product Listing for Nail Products Containing Triphenyl Phosphate (TPhP)

California is proposing to list nail products containing over 250 ppm of triphenyl phosphate (TPhP) as a Priority Product under its Safer Consumer Products Regulations.

On August 8, 2025, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) initiated a public consultation on a proposed rule to designate nail products containing more than 250 ppm of triphenyl phosphate (TPhP, CAS No. 115-86-6) as a Priority Product under the state’s Safer Consumer Products (SCP) Regulations. The consultation will remain open until September 22, 2025.
