Methods on determination of collagen in cosmetics

Determination of dimethyl oxazolidine, 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane prohibited preservatives in cosmetics

  • This standard specifies the required reagents, instruments, basic steps and analysis results of two methods, namely gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and HPLC. The two methods are used for the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine, 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane prohibited preservatives in cosmetics.
  • The first method applies to the determination of 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane in water-based, oil-in-water and water-in-oil cosmetics and the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine in water-in-oil cream cosmetics. The HPLC method applies to the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine in water-based, oil-in-water and water-in-oil cosmetics.
  • The LOD and LOQ of the two method are the same: LOD: 15.0 mg/kg, LOQ: 50.0 mg/kg.
