China Consults on 8 Draft National Standards Regarding Determination Methods of Cosmetic Ingredients

The standard stipulates the required reagents, instruments, basic steps and analysis results of three methods—spectrophotometric method, HPLC and Amino acid analysis. 7	Determination of dimethyl oxazolidine, 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo -5-nitro-1,3-dioxane prohibited preservatives in cosmetics	New	This standard specifies the required reagents, instruments, basic steps and analysis results of two methods, namely gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and HPLC. The two methods are used for the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine, 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane prohibited preservatives in cosmetics. The first method applies to the determination of 7-ethylbicyclooxazolidine and 5-bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane in water-based, oil-in-water and water-in-oil cosmetics and the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine in water-in-oil cream cosmetics. The HPLC method applies to the determination of dimethyl oxazolidine in water-based, oil-in-water and water-in-oil cosmetics.
