China counting down to the opening of the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE)

More than 3000 companies from all over the world and over 60 countries are going to participate in this expo to showcase their products, matchmake, exchange creative ideas, and get a look at innovative technologies. In the meantime, it’s also predicted that about 150,000 buyers from domestic and foreign countries are going to attend the expo to explore business cooperation.

The expo is an international platform for both suppliers and buyers to find opportunities to stimulate their business development. Most importantly, it encourages more foreign products and services to enter China.

This year’s expo

This year’s expo has seven major exhibition areas, which are Service trade, automobile, equipment, technology life, quality life, medical equipment and medical care, food and agricultural products. And for those who want to exhibit their products in these areas, the organizers of the Import Expo also provide convenient measures for customs clearance, inspection and quarantine, and provides long-term online and offline trading services to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and protect the rights and interests of merchants.

In the meantime, the expo will also play host to the second Hongqiao International Economic Forum. It includes the main forum (the opening ceremony of the Expo) and five parallel sessions themed with “Opening-up and Innovation for Win-win Cooperation”. Relevant state leaders and heads of international organizations will be invited to deliver speeches. The topics for the five parallel sessions are “Opening-up, Regulation and Business Environment”, “Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development”, “WTO Reform and Free Trade Agreements”, “E-commerce in the Digital Era”, “China's 70-Year Development and the Building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. At present, WTO Director-General Azevedo, UNCTAD Secretary-General Kituyi, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Jin Liqun, International Trade Center Executive Director Gonzalez, Nobel Prize Winner Pissarides have expressed their intentions to attend the forum. Plus, there are supporting activities in which Chinese official departments, international organizations and high-end think tanks will release the latest opening-up policy, research results, annual reports, etc to the public.

Expo in Retrospect

Last year’s expo witnessed speeches by President Xi Jinping Jack Ma and even Bill Gates. Many foreign products also made their public debut in China. AmorePacific customized 3D mask was launched at the first CIIE while Mustela launched a new series of products for sensitive infant skin.
