Cosmetics Sourced from Endangered Wildlife to Be Strictly Controlled in Vietnam

On August 28th, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued an official letter to order cosmetic business enterprises not to trade in cosmetic products related to rare and endangered wildlife.

On August 28th, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued an official letter to order cosmetic business enterprises not to trade in cosmetic products related to rare and endangered wildlife.

The authority requested cosmetic enterprises to provide sufficient documents to prove that the ingredients which related to species in the list of rare and endangered wildlife prioritized for protection are not prohibited from commercial exploitation. The enterprises need to re-check the ingredient formulas of cosmetic products, said the head of the Drug Administration.

Vietnam has been a member of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) of endangered wild flora and the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) since 1994. Many legal documents for the protection of biodiversity and rare and endangered wildlife have already been issued in recent years.
