EU SCCS Finalizes Opinion on Tea Tree Oil in Cosmetics

In June 2025, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) published its preliminary opinion on the safety of Tea Tree Oil (TTO) in cosmetic products. Following a review of comments received, the committee issued the final opinion on November 14, 2025, adding a clarification on the applicable user group for the recommended maximum safe concentration—a point not included in the preliminary opinion.¹
