The Health Science Authority (HSA) detected the prohibited ingredients including mercury and hydroquinone contained in three skincare products from Shantique Bellaza in Singapore.

The Health Science Authority (HSA) detected the prohibited ingredients including mercury and hydroquinone contained in three skincare products from Shantique Bellaza in Singapore.

These three cosmetic products are:

  • SB Facial Fuel Toner Mezzo,
  • SB UV Pro Day Cream Mezzo, and
  • SB Rejuvenating Night Cream Mezzo.

Mercury may cause rashes and skin irritation, as well as dizziness and headaches. Chronic exposure to mercury may also affect the kidneys. Hydroquinone is used for the treatment of skin conditions in western medicines. It could cause changes in skin pigmentation or hypersensitivity reactions when used inappropriately, said HSA.

HSA warns the public to stop using these skincare products immediately, and advises consumers to seek medical advice if any adverse effects occur to them.
