On Nov. 4, 2019, India Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) issued a notice to solicit public opinions on the updated cosmetics scope. The consultation will last until December 4th. Stakeholders with any comments shall send to the authority via dci@nic.in before the deadline.
As per the notice, the following three types of products will be regulated as cosmetics in India:
Products such as adhesives for fixing wigs on scalp or hair;
Products used for cleansing the scalp;
Artificial nail systems.
Specifically, the former two will be included in the category of “Products for Temporary Hairs” specified in column 3 of the Guidelines on Registration of Import of Cosmetics. Besides, a new category named “Artificial Nail Systems” will be established in column 3 of the Guidelines to incorporate the last product.
