Indonesia Details Non-Halal Labeling Rules for Cosmetics

On February 12, 2026, Indonesia notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of a new draft regulation regarding the "Form and Procedures for the Labelling of Non-Halal Information." 1 The draft regulation (G/TBT/N/IDN/184) specifies the conditions under which products, including cosmetics, must be explicitly labeled as non-halal and introduces a standardized "NON HALAL" mark. The draft is open for public comment until March 14, 2026.

Criteria for Non-Halal Cosmetics

The determination of a cosmetic product as non-halal is based on its ingredients and production process. If a cosmetic meets any of the following criteria, it is considered non-halal and must be labeled accordingly.
