According to Indonesian cosmetic regulations, prior to manufacture and import cosmetics must notify POM and comply with Technical Requirements of Cosmetic Ingredients including the list of substances prohibited in cosmetics. POM has destroyed 34.7 billion cosmetics without a notification number and 39 types of cosmetics containing hazardous ingredients.

Due to the large amount of illegal imported cosmetics in 2016 Indonesia POM will enhance law enforcement on imported cosmetics and strengthen post-market surveillance. Cosmetic companies are suggested to strictly comply with regulations, or run the risk of suffering huge losses and severe punishment.
