Indonesia Issues Regulation on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Halal Certification Services for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs)

On December 31, 2024, Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) issued and implemented Regulation No. 80 of 2024, which outlines the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Halal Certification Services for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and provides detailed implementation guidelines. This regulation replaces Regulation No. 61 of 2022, bringing improvements to the halal certification process for MSEs.

BPJPH Regulation No. 80 of 2024 aims to provide clearer and more standardized guidance for halal certification, specifically designed for micro and small enterprises. It introduces four application methods via the online system (SiHalal), with the key difference being the funding source for certification fees. The regulation establishes a structured process covering application submission, document review, product testing and certification, while clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, including BPJPH, enterprises, and the Ministry of Finance.

Key Features of the Regulation

The regulation is supported by three appendices that provide comprehensive details:
