Japan MHLW Revises Standards for Biological Raw Materials

Japan’s MHLW amended the Standards for Biological Raw Materials, easing some prohibitions on ruminant-derived materials while aligning with WOAH’s negligible BSE risk classification.

On March 31, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan released an amendment to the Standards for Biological Raw Materials (MHLW Notification No. 155 of 2026).
