Japanese Company Apologizes for Adverse Effects Caused by its Cosmetics

On 5 Dec, Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare Co., Ltd., the subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo Company Limited (a leading pharmaceutical company in Japan) made apology to the public for the cosmetics adverse effects including skin itching, swelling and rash caused by its “DERMA ENERGY” series products. 

On 5 Dec, Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare Co., Ltd., the subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo Company Limited (a leading pharmaceutical company in Japan) made apology to the public for the cosmetics adverse effects including skin itching, swelling and rash caused by its “DERMA ENERGY” series products. 

“DERMA ENERGY” series products are moisturizers targeted at women at middle to older age. The products are rich in vitamin A and their primary functions are "anti-wrinkle" and "skin tightening". The series were placed on the Japanese market since last July and approximately 137,000 bottles including samples have been sold. Until now, over 270 cases of adverse reactions have been reported. Most of affected consumers' skin condition gets back to normal about 2-3 weeks after final use of the products.

In response, the company will discontinue this series and promised to their customers that all products both new and used can be returned for a refund.
