Korea Implements Two New Quasi-drug Labeling Requirements

On March 17 2015, Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) promulgated two amendments to the “Requirements for Labelling of Quasi-drugs” to safeguard consumers’ interest. The amendments came into force as of the day of promulgation.

On March 17 2015, Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) promulgated two amendments to the “Requirements for Labelling of Quasi-drugs” to safeguard consumers’ interest. The amendments came into force as of the day of promulgation.

The amendments are as follows:

  • Where oral cleaning wet tissues, oral cleansers and toothpastes contain ethyl alcohol, the manufactures shall use appropriate cautionary labeling on the packaging or container.
  • Oral cleaning wet tissues, oral cleansers and toothpastes containing fluorine or ethyl alcohol shall be labeled with the warning “children are not allowed to use the product without guidance and supervision of parents and adults”.
