Korea Revises Imported Cosmetics Quality Inspection Exemption Rules

On December 1^st Korea MFDS released the newly revised exemption rules of imported cosmetic quality inspection. This revision took effect immediately upon the date of release.

The revised parts are:

In the first article, “Application procedure, documents and evaluation methods submission” has been changed to “Application procedure, documents and evaluation methods submission, and necessary details related to authorization cancellation”.

In the Article 7.2 (cancelling procedures for on-site investigation and evaluation authorization):

• MFDS asks manufacturers who haven’t supplied enough information in their documents to supplement according to Article 7.2.
• According to Article 11.8, MFDS would cancel on-site investigation and evaluation authorization for those manufacturers who fail to supply information on time and would inform those manufacturers immediately.
• According to Article 11.5, manufacturers whose on-site investigation and evaluation authorization has been cancelled should take imported cosmetic quality inspection the day after they have been informed.
