Minnesota Updates Lead and Cadmium Restrictions in Consumer Products

Minnesota clarifies the scope of regulated products and adds new exemptions under its lead and cadmium restrictions.

On June 14, 2025, the Governor of Minnesota signed House File No. 4, amending the state's existing restrictions on lead and cadmium in consumer products. This builds upon the previous law, House File No. 2310, signed on May 24, 2023, which initially established maximum limits for these heavy metals in a wide range of products, including cosmetics. The latest update introduces clarifications to the scope of regulated products and new exemptions for specific applications.
