SFDA Approves Phenylethyl Resorcinol as Cosmetics Ingredient

On 5 Dec 2012, China's SFDA announced to approve Phenylethyl Resorcinol as cosmetics ingredient after the consultation of almost four months (Chemlinked news on 8 Aug).

On 5 Dec 2012, China's SFDA announced to approve Phenylethyl Resorcinol (CAS No. 85-27-8) as cosmetics ingredient after the consultation of almost four months (Chemlinked news on 8 Aug).

Meanwhile, the supporting document attached describes technical requirements for the substance, including its gas chromatography method and the liquid chromatographic method for identification of resorcinol.

The ingredient is used for skin whitening, which can inhibit the formation of melanin by suppressing the activity of tyrosinase.
