China SFDA releases the guidance on safe use conditions and testing methods of three cosmetic ingredient substances.
In order to standardize the technical requirement of cosmetic ingredients and further improving the safety of cosmetic products, China State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) has recently approved and released the guidance on safe use conditions and testing methods of three cosmetic ingredients: ethanol (CAS: 64-17-5), TALC (CAS: 14807-96-6) and glycerin (CAS: 56-81-5).
Concentration percentage of ethanol in the cosmetic product should be no less than 95% at 20 ℃(v/v) and volume percentage of methanol in ethanol should be no more than 0.2% (v/v).
The guidance demands that the powdered product should be kept away from one’s mouth and nose as far as possible during the production and use of TALC. Cosmetics producers must make sure that asbestos should not be detected from the compositions of TALC.
Concentration percentage of glycerin in the cosmetic product should be no less than 95% at 20 ℃ (v/v) and volume percentage of diglycol in glycerin should be no more than 0.1% (v/v).
