South Korea Clarifies 25 Fragrance Allergens Need to be Labeled on the Packaging

Earlier ChemLinked reported that South Korea amended Enforcement Rule of the Cosmetics Act ^[1], which regulated that from Jan. 1, 2020, all the cosmetics shall label fragrance allergens’ names on the packaging. Then on Sep. 11, 2019, South Korea released an announcement amending Standards for Marking Cosmetics Usage Precautions ^[2], detailing the categories of fragrance allergens that should be labeled and the conditions of labeling. Public consultation will last until Oct. 2, 2019. Any suggestions can be mail lucyah@korea.kr.

The main amendments are as follows:

1. The regulation name Standards for Marking Cosmetics Usage Precautions was changed to Standards for Marking Cosmetics Usage Precautions and Fragrance Allergens Labeling.

2. The specific categories of fragrance allergens that should be labeled and conditions of labeling were detailed.
