Taiwan Consults on a Revised List of Legal Colorants in Cosmetics

On April 8, 2020, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released a revised list of Legal Colorants in Cosmetics for public consultation. The public consultation will last until June 5, 2020. Any suggestions on the list can be mailed to [email protected].

The list is scheduled to be effective from July 1, 2021. For registered specific purpose cosmetics containing any colorant not complying with the list, the holder of registration certificate shall complete modification before June 30, 2021.

Compared with the existing Legal Colorants in Cosmetics, the list is subject to significant changes, which includes:

77 colorants are newly added to the list
35 existing colorants are subject to revised requirements
4 colorants are removed from the list
