Takehome:
Taiwan will revise requirements on cadmium and its residue in cosmetics and will totally ban the usage of barium in cosmetics.
In the past Cadmium and its compound were banned from being used in cosmetics in China. However, considering small amounts of the heavy metal may be present during production, TFDA decided to formulate the "Permitted limits of impure heavy metal residue in cosmetic" and stipulated that cadmium residues can't exceed 5ppm in cosmetic products.
Barium salts (exclude barium sulfate, barium sulfide, infusible salts for colorants, lakes and pigments) seriously damage health. TFDA will totally ban the usage of barium salts in cosmetics. From Sep. 1st, 2018, cosmetics using barium salts are prohibited to manufacture, import, sell, supply, and display.
