On Dec 5, 2019, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration released a revised version of List of Preservatives in Cosmetic Products regulating the use of preservatives, dosage limits and labeling rules. This new version is scheduled to enter into force on July 1, 2020. For cosmetics not complying with this new version but manufactured before June 30, 2020, they are permitted to be marketed until their expiration date.
Compared with the current List of List of Preservatives in Cosmetic Products which was implemented on July 1, 2019, the main changes are as follows:
7 preservatives are newly added to the list.
10 preservatives are removed from the list.
Partial contents of 26 preservatives are revised including names, dosage limits, labeling rules. Since oral care products are now regulated as cosmetics in Taiwan, this new version sets specific dosage limits and rules of preservatives for oral and lip products.
