On 15 May 2014, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" (TFDA) promulgated the revised Standard List of Application and Maximum Levels of Preservatives in Cosmetics with immediate effect.

Based on the amendment made in Jan, 2014 (See Chemlinked News on 9 Jan 2014), specifications and warnings of the two preservatives added to the list at that time, namely Methylisothiazolinone (Item 24) and Mixture of 5-Chloro-2-methyl-isothiazol-3(2H)-one and 2-Methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one with magnesium chloride and magnesium nitrate (Item 25), has been slightly modified. To be specific, the warning “caution in sensitive skin” is newly attached to Item 24 when applied to non-rinse-off products. Besides, maximum level of Item 25 for both rinse-off products and other products will become 0.0015%. The warning” caution in sensitive skin”, replaces the previous warning, is also attached to Item 25 when applied to non-rinse-off products

It is pointed out in the announcement that products containing these preservatives that are manufactured or imported from 1 Jan 2015  are required to make adjustment according to the new specifications and warnings.
