Taiwan Prohibits Rhododendrol as Cosmetic Ingredient

On 9 Sep 2013, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" made response to the recall of Kanebo skin whitening products containing “Rhododendrol” across Asia that based on risk assessment, the Rhododendrol is now classified as “a banned cosmetic ingredient” in Taiwan.
On 9 Sep 2013, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" made response to the recall of Kanebo skin whitening products containing “Rhododendrol” across Asia that based on risk assessment, the Rhododendrol is now classified as “a banned cosmetic ingredient” in Taiwan.
Since 2 Jul, Kanebo announced to withdraw certain products having “Rhododendrol” from the Asian market for it causes discoloration (see Chemlinked news on 7 Jul). So far, according to statistics from Kanebo Taiwan, almost all of those affected unsafe cosmetic products have been recalled successfully. Taiwan FDA also reminds consumers to stop using those whitening products containing this ingredient if they find they are using them.
