On December 3, 2020, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released a draft list of prohibited ingredients in cosmetics for public consultation. Any suggestions on the list can be mailed to sherrycty@fda.gov.tw until Feb 1, 2021.
The list is scheduled to come into effect from July 1, 2021. From that date, it is prohibited to manufacture, import, selling, supply or display cosmetics containing the ingredients in the list.
Compared with the existing list of prohibited ingredients in cosmetics, this new list is subject to the following changes:
40 ingredients are revised, among which 2 ingredients exceptions were deleted, 2 are subject to name corrections and 36 are subject to revision of requirements.
255 ingredients are added to the list, among which 73 are ingredients only prohibited for use in hair dye products. In addition, Cannabidiol, which has received much attention in the global market, was added to the list.
