Following the removal of most parts of the hemp plant from the Thai government’s narcotics list in December 2020, Thailand Food and Drug Administration officially allowed the use of low-THC hemp ingredients in cosmetics on January 12, 2021, and introduced two standards to further refine the rules of hemp use [1].
Specifics of the standards are as follows:
1. The following six kinds of hemp ingredients are permitted to be used in cosmetics. Notably, only domestic companies can produce and sell cosmetics containing these hemp seed oil or hemp seed extract, provided the product's maximum THC content is within the specified limits. The imports of cosmetics with hemp seeds or hemp seed extract are still prohibited [2].
