Children's Cosmetics Need Stricter Administration in China

As New Year approaches, many Chinese children are preparing performances. Allergic reactions to cosmetics are common even among children using “cosmetics for children”. Gu Lihong, a reporter from Shenyang Evening News discovered that these so-called “cosmetics for children” were just gimmicks, because there are not enough mandatory standards especially for children’s cosmetics in China. Cosmetics for children show little differences between standard cosmetics.

CFDA Cosmetic Division Director Gives Practical Advice

From November 19th to 20th 2015, the First Cosmetic Engineer Summit of Asia Pacific was held at Zhujiang Hotel, Guangzhou City. Guangdong FDA Ramps Up Cosmetics Random Inspection Campaign

Guangdong FDA recently conducted its fourth “unannounced” spot inspection of cosmetic traders this year—conducting an additional unplanned random inspection to the three rounds planned in 2015. The inspection targeted five companies and subjected them to a long-term covert technical investigation. The inspection results will be announced shortly and companies involved in any illicit activities will face severe punishment.

Jiangsu FDA Inspection Data Reveals Widespread Adulteration

CFDA Release Long-awaited “Guidance for Cosmetic Safety Risk Assessment” for Public Consultation

A landmark “Guidance for Cosmetic Safety Risk Assessment” was released for public consultation by the Drug and Cosmetic Division of CFDA on 10 November. The guidance provides for the first time a full and complete technical standard on risk assessment of cosmetics in China. The consultation period (during which public feedback is accepted) will end on the 10th of December 2015.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
China’s Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics (STSC) and Its Updates
