CFDA Cosmetic Division Director Gives Practical Advice

From November 19th to 20th 2015, the First Cosmetic Engineer Summit of Asia Pacific was held at Zhujiang Hotel, Guangzhou City. The theme of this summit was “Safety, Fusion, Innovation, and Cooperation”.

During this summit, Liu Baojun, the director of cosmetic division in CFDA was invited to give a speech. Regarding the application for review of cosmetics, Liu gave some suggestions:

1. Cosmetic companies must stay honest. Liu said violations where reported facts and data were not in accordance with the descriptions submitted for review are common. He warned that this kind of dishonesty would causes lots of trouble for cosmetic companies.
2. Cosmetic companies should keep learning. Liu pointed out cosmetic companies should know and learn laws and regulations about cosmetics. The application procedure would be much easier if cosmetic companies keep pace with changing regulations.
3. Cosmetic companies should keep communicating with CFDA. Liu Baojun said that CFDA welcomes communication with cosmetic companies. Cosmetic companies could ask CFDA directly if they encounter any problem during the process of application.
4. Cosmetic companies should focus on the details. Liu stressed that cosmetic companies should not leave out any detail during application. He said a little mistake on the details such as a number in the form could lead to failure of the application.

Director Liu Baojun also said that currently Chinese government is making policies much more meticulously, and any policy it makes must be aimed at protecting the safety of consumers and reducing the regulatory burden of cosmetic companies.
