Korea Revises Cosmetic Labelling and Advertising Standards

Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) released amendments to Guidelines for Management of Labelling and Advertising of Cosmetics. The new rules will enter into force from 24 June 2015 and initially apply to products manufactured and imported for the first time.

Korea Cosmetic Regulations: Korea Cosmetic Ingredients Standards

On July 29 2014, Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued a pre-announcement on the partial amendment to “Provisions on Security Standard for Cosmetics” which when implemented will standardize the content of cosmetic ingredients and increase the requirements of risk assessment for partial fungicide and preservative ingredients. The announcement is open for public consultation until September 26 2014.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
