South Korea Clamping Down on Spurious and Misleading Cosmetic Online Advertisements

Earlier, ChemLinked reported that the Korea Fair Trade Commission reinforced the supervision of cosmetics advertising on social media. Recently South Korea MFDS inspected 4748 cosmetic online sales pages, mainly focusing on massage cream, cosmetics used before or after exercise, etc., and found 1553 spurious and misleading advertising pages.

South Korea to Tighten Management of Cosmetic Packaging Materials

South Korea is going to implement the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources (hereinafter the Act) on Dec. 25, 2019. The Act bans the use of PVC, colored PET bottles, etc. as packaging materials, classifies the packaging materials into four grades, and requires enterprises to label the recycling grade on the packaging.

South Korea Reinforces Supervision of Cosmetics Advertising on Social Media

According to Beautynury, seven enterprises were ordered to correct their advertisements on Instagram and fined 269 million KRW (225,597 USD) by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) for violating Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising, among which 4 are cosmetic enterprises.
