On Oct 28, China Food and Drug Administration released the following 3 drafts about cosmetic testing methods for public consultation.
- Repeated Dose 28-Day Oral Toxicity Study
- Skin Photoallergy Test
- Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals in Cosmetics: Transcutaneous Electrical Resistance Test
The drafts clearly specify the procedures to conduct the tests and the specific testing methods. All of them fill the gap that China lacks the testing methods.
For“Repeated Dose 28-Day Oral Toxicity Study” and Skin Photoallergy Test, although both are applicable to cosmetic finished products and cosmetic new ingredients as mentioned in the drafts, the three testing methods affect cosmetic new ingredients more in reality.
Comments can be conveyed to the CFDA before Nov 30 2016. Considering the date, it can be affirmed that the testing methods will not be added to Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics and enter into force simultaneously with STSC (on Dec 1st 2016).
