China to Implement 3 New Cosmetic Standards from May 1, 2020

    On Oct. 18, China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued an announcement approving 343 new national standards and 2 revision lists of existing national standards. Among them, one standard is related to the cosmetic industry.

    A week after SAMR’s announcement, China General Administration of Customs released 67 industry standards for entry-exit inspection and quarantine, including 2 determination methods for sunscreen cosmetics.

    Specifics of these standards are as follows:

    GB/T and SN/T

    GB/T represents recommended national standard while SN/T refers to recommended industrial standard for commodity inspection.
