China NMPA Modifies Use Conditions for Mercury, Biphenyl-2-ol, and Acid Violet 43 in STSC

In November 2025, the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) initiated a public consultation on three cosmetic standards concerning Mercury and its compounds, Biphenyl-2-ol and its salts, and Acid Violet 43. Following the consultation, on May 15, 2026, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) announced the incorporation of the three finalized standards into the Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics (STSC), replacing the corresponding current provisions.^1-2
