China Proposes Revised Mandatory Standards for Soap and Detergent Safety

The standard GB 26396 will be upgraded from a recommended standard to a mandatory one.

On December 31, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China released a public consultation for six mandatory national standards, including the revised GB 26396—202X Safety Technical Specification for Soap and Detergents. This revision intends to update to the previous GB/T 26396-2011 standard, transitioning it from a recommended standard to a mandatory one.
